Dragon boating provides a variety of paddling experiences.

It is great for each person to do their best as an individual whilst participating as part of a team. Sprint races are held in summer during the Grand Prix season - they are fast and furious.

In the cooler months we enter longer events where steady, endurance paddling is key.

Indian Ocean Dragon Boat Club was founded in September 2012 by a group of paddlers who were passionate about the sport of Dragon Boating in WA. They restored an old fiberglass dragon boat and hit the water in October of that year!

We train in the waters off North Fremantle and often enjoy the company of dolphins and the odd seal! We paddle all year round.

Our summer season runs from October to March, consists of four Regattas where we compete against other teams in WA. In March the State Championships are held.

In the Winter months the conditions are amazing with glass like waters which we concentrate on distance training for marathon events.

Our crew are a diverse group with ages ranging from 12 -70 and all fitness levels. Our focus is fostering friendship and Teamwork which develops confidence and creates a fun environment for everyone to enjoy.

We are a very successful, competitive bunch with a social bent who love meeting new people and welcome new members.

Our membership base has steadily grown since those early beginnings and now possesses 10’s and 20’s dragon boat and six-person outrigger canoe (OC6) and cater to males and females of all ages and experiences.
