Hong Kong Dragonboat Festival

The Hong Kong Dragonboat Festival is an annual event run on Victoria Harbour and falls on different dates of the year depending on the Lunar Calendar.
The festival evolved from the practice of revering the river dragon and commemorates the life and death of Qu Yuan, a third century poet and political figure of the State of Chu in ancient China.
The Dragonboat races are an international event with teams invited from all over the world. The racing is fast and furious making it really difficult for the steerers in the strong currents.
There are stands packed with cheering spectators.
Indian Ocean competed in 2017 and made the finals in all categories.
Our crew had a wonderful experience meeting teams from all over the world and exploring the wonders of Hong Kong and surrounding areas.
